Day 01/4: Cairo – Alamein – Siwa Oasis

Pick up from your location in Cairo transfer to Siwa oasis. Lunch en route, upon reaching Siwa, we tour the old Siwan

Shali Fortress

Shali Fortress in the Centre of Siwa is dominated by the ruins of the 13th-century Shali fortress. Built from a material known as salt rocks from the local salt lakes and mud the ruins are subject to additional disintegration after each rainfall.

Walk up to the top of the fortress to witness spectacular views of the oasis and its surroundings.

Fatnas Island

on the salt lake of Birket Siwa in a beautiful surrounding of palm trees – nice place for drink and sunset over the lake & sand dunes

Taste the Delicious Food of Siwa Oasis, Egypt

Most Siwan dishes are easy to prepare and made with fresh ingredients found in the gardens or the market. Lunch is the main meal of the day, and typically includes salad, rice or macaroni, olives, and a vegetable dish. Meat is almost always accompanied by a light and flavorful soup made from its broth. Lighter fare is served at dinners, such as an assortment of cheese, tomatoes or cucumbers, molasses, and fried potatoes or eggplant. The Great Sand Sea After Lunch – Start our journey at Siwa Desert

is one of the largest dune fields in the whole world and contains some of the largest recorded sand dunes, one of which is 140 km long

Drive between the dunes till we arrive at the fossils area and see the rocky coral reefs which date to the Cambrian era. Then drive to one of the spring eyes at the middle of the desert ##(Shiataa Lake) ## and it is a good chance to watch the birds and swim in cold spring and enjoy the bath and relaxing atmosphere. There is another chance to enjoy sand surfing in the desert. After that, it is time to drive to another hot spring which is called ##(Bir Wahed)## stopping at one of the desert camps for a magical dinner under the stars

Gebel Al-Mawta

Gebel Al-Mawta in Arabic means Mountain of the Dead; it is a cone-shaped mount a little to the North of Shali Fortress, dotted with tombs from the 26th dynasty and the Ptolemaic period. Many of these tombs are still very well from Gebel El-Mawta, you can catch amazing views of Siwa Oasis.
