Our driver will pick you up in the early morning directly from your hotel and you’ll travel to the south of Egypt. On the way to Luxor, you’ll pass by some of the Upper Egyptian villages where the old Egyptians have lived, and the modern continues to. enjoy observing the capturing the moments of this beautiful part of Egypt.
Temple of Karnak
First of all, you will visit the Temple of Karnak – one of the most extraordinary temples all over the world, as after thousands of years it is still in an amazingly good state. With a bit of imagination, you will find yourself easily back in the past of this impressive sacral monument.
You will have a lot of time to stroll around, explore the entrance area where you get an impression of how the immense pylon was built, walk through the avenue of ram-headed criosphinx, discover the hypostyle hall with its more than one hundred huge well-preserved pillars, admire the hieroglyphs and paintings, see the holy lake and have a look at the various chapels, temples, and statues.
And if you like, approach the holy scarab close to the lake and surround it three times clockwise? according to the legend, offspring will follow soon! (for some, this might sound like a warning ;))
Colossi of Memnon
Afterward, our guide will take you to admire the 3,400 years old Colossi of Memnon, the gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that were once standing guard in front of his no longer existing memorial temple complex that had been even larger than the Temple of Karnak. enjoy the fascinating stories from the knowledgeable guides of Red Sea Reisen. Valley of the Queens
After the lunch break, we will show you the Valley of the Queens, where the ancient Egyptians buried their queens with their sons. You will descend to three tombs where you’ll discover the well-preserved colorful paintings and hieroglyphic stories on the walls. If you are eager to understand what’s written on that walls, make sure to learn hieroglyphics, prior to your arrival – or simply ask your guide.
Valley of the Kings
After the lunch break, we will show you the Valley of the Kings, The Valley was used for primary burials from approximately 1539 BC to 1075 BC. It contains at least 63 tombs, beginning with Thutmose I (or possibly earlier, during the reign of Amenhotep I) and ending with Ramesses X or XI, although non-royal burials continued in usurped tombs. If you are eager to understand what’s written on that walls, make sure to learn hieroglyphics, prior to your arrival – or simply ask your guide.
Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
Ready for another highlight? The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who was one of the most fascinating rulers of ancient Egypt (yes, it’s true), a female Pharaoh who proved her ability to successfully reign over an empire and finally created for herself an architectonically extraordinary mortuary temple with colonnaded terraces, a hypostyle hall and lots of statues, paintings, and reliefs.
That’s the end of the program. Both groups will get ready to head back to Hurghada.
